“The Student”

Materials: Bristol Paper (11”x14”), Faber Castell Graphite Pencils, Faber Castell Matte Graphite Pencils, Ohuho 320 Marker Set, and also Prisma Color 150 color pencil set.

After a brief development stage, I then had this idea. The model is in the center, and the hanky code is in the background. Keron, the model, met me through a dating app, Scruff, funny enough. I asked about twenty other leather men, but all said “no…” While Keron said “Yes.” With that, I then started working…

Once I got the green light, I then started on my path to create fifteen fully rendered portraits. After this portrait I really wanted to interview each model. To fully capture their emotions, their spirit, and their “look” sort of speak.

I did upload this to the Tom of Finland Emerging Artist contest at the time. So we shall see what will happen. I really don’t think I’m going to win, but I really want to see how the panel of judges look at my work and really critique it. So I can make better portraits.
